Is artex dangerous?

Artex applied before the ban often contains a small percentage of white asbestos. Left intact and painted, it is low-risk. It becomes a hazard if you sand, scrape or drill it, which releases fibres. If you want to remove or skim over artex, have it tested first so it's handled correctly.
