Artex and asbestos: is it dangerous, and can it be removed?
Textured coatings like Artex applied before the ban often contain white asbestos. Here's what that means and your options.

Is it a risk?
Artex containing asbestos is low-risk while it's intact and painted. The hazard comes from sanding, scraping or drilling it, which releases fibres. Left alone, it can usually stay.
Your options
You can leave and manage it, skim or over-board it to cover it, or have it removed. Removal and over-boarding both need to be done in a controlled way, so it's worth testing the coating first to confirm what you're dealing with.
Getting it tested
A small sample sent for analysis settles the question cheaply. If it's positive and you want it gone, we remove it safely and dispose of the waste legally.
